Just for fun...

Loved this video!

Great news, it can be done! (See below.) In your blog post, go to "Edit Html" and then visit your YouTube video and find the embed code. Copy and paste the embed code into your post (remember, even though it looks like nonsense, it's in the html, it's supposed to look like that). When you click post, double check your blog, but it should show up just fine. :-)

Video

Since I needed to make a video for class, upload, and post, I tried this one. (I was actually looking for the moth I've seen for the last two mornings in a row on the way into school, but it has apparently escaped the papparazzi!) I'm posting it here for class purposes, but I'll probably post it to my other account & send to my friend Gaby in Venezuela. Gaby is entirely fascinated by the Amish and regrets that there are none in her home country.

Here is the video on YouTube

Unfortunately, it looks like the only way to embed this video is to upload it to Blogger. I'll check out the html text to see if it can be embedded via link to YouTube & show up on this page.

Last Day of Class

Well, we're wrapping things up today. On the schedule: finish up websites, learn the digital video cam process, and present our finished websites. It has been a good week, and I think we are all very satisfied with the outcome: functional knowledge AND two functional websites of our very own. You can see mine here.

After this afternoon, it's back to the insanity of wedding planning. Last evening I met one of the bridesmaids at the dress shop and tried on the dress for the final fitting. Beautiful! as was her dress (in celadon with white sash & slip). And she swapped music with me as I continue to gather songs for the dance floor. Then I was up most of the night last night thinking about the seating arrangement at the reception... nothing on paper, just one of those things that keeps me from sleeping!

Sites for Educators

I've been finding, over the past year, a new surge of websites for educators. I wish I could remember all of them (and part of the problem is that they're bookmarked on several different computers). Here are a few must-see's:

Classroom 2.0

Wikispaces (ad-free for educators)

VoiceThread (expanded version for educators)

Mrs. Pojer's History Teacher .Net

Free Dictionary

Thursday

Well, I didn't get much done on the website last night, but I did get a lot of dill pickles canned! Mom and Dad and I did about four dozen quart jars and another dozen pints to give away. Mmm, those are going to taste good!

Fresh cucumbers, cleaned & ready to slice

Sliced Cucumbers

Adding Mrs. Wages' seasoning & vinegar

Pickles in the canner

Finished!

It sounds like others around the room are having success in their websites, so it'll be fun to see them in the presentation tomorrow. I'll bet everyone has something a little different, and I'm anxious to get inspiration from their ideas!

Progress

Well, nothing too interesting to report yet, apart from a few gasps and cries as we've clicked the wrong button and lost (or nearly lost) the information we're trying to post to our new websites. I've gotten a lot done on the Sheep to Shawl website, but silly me, without my flash drive that I forgot this morning, I can't put my pictures on it! And I just talked to several of the team members; shortly they'll be sending me the team bio so I can post that.

Input? Leave comments below, please.
Good morning! We'll see what today brings... I'd like to make some progress on my Schrack Farms' & Dream Weavers' websites. The farm website could use more work, but I'm having trouble filling in information that I don't know enough about (like the history and mission statement). I could also use some more pictures, and Dan and I went out and took some pictures for that very purpose, but I forgot to transfer them to my flash drive at home (this computer doesn't have a card reader).

I showed Mom our Dream Weavers site last night, and she loved it! She had a few suggestions of things to add, and will be getting me some more info to post.

All for now. Hopefully something interesting will happen that will need posted later!

I'm not sure I like the layout of this blog yet. It's missing some spaces here and there (like between posts). I've looked at the html/css text and can't figure that one out! But I have enjoyed making a few different headers in PhotoShop.

WooHoo CSS!

Well, I may have scared Jim this time. I have started playing around with CSS, not knowing much of anything, of course, but at least it doesn't hurt to try some different things and see what comes out.

I definitely need more practice in Adobe Photoshop, that's for sure! The header took a long time, and didn't at all come out as I was expecting. I'll have to keep playing with Photoshop to see if I can come up with something different. I will say, this Color Scheme Designer has helped a lot!

Back to the drawing board...
Wow, I just uncovered a whole new world: CSS. Apparently, if I am skilled enough, I could create my very own template for this blog, or a website, or anything... Next, the world!

Second Day of Class

Well, here we are, 8:15, the second day of class. Our assignment: create two webpages from two different site servers. The first I chose yesterday, a google site, and the second I've decided to start today. I can blog a little each morning as we arrive to mark our progress.

Yesterday held a good lecture and practice. We learned about html text writing and how it has progressed to wysiwyg- what you see is what you get- web page design. (I think the overall preference by far is wysiwyg!)

Today we're chomping at the bit to get started on our assignment again. Even though we have a whole week of independent study, we're trying to get a head start to finish a little early and still have a quality product!
